Sept 2010
Editor’s letter
As a new school year begins, we look back and ahead – forward, of course, to the start of “Strictly” season, which, after the rollercoaster run-up, will be aired from September 11. This “Strictly”-themed issue features interviews with Len Goodman (page 24), Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace (page 40) and a close encounter with James and Ola Jordan on a Warner “Strictly” experience break (page 20).
Remembering the summer, Katie Gregory (It’s a WOMAD world, page 34) and Natanya van der Lingen (A summer of swing, page 42), report on their trips to WOMAD festival and Herräng Dance Camp respectively. Meanwhile Alison Gallagher-Hughes looks back at the busy year Duncan Trever has had organising his first EADA 10-dance (Perfect timing, page 30).
Much further back – 100 years ago next month – our sister magazine Dancing Times launched its first issue. Back then, both ballet and ballroom were covered in the same magazine, which split into two separate publications in 1956. We will be celebrating by giving both magazines a facelift – all our regular features will remain, only the design will be refreshed – and by re-launching our website. We do hope you like our new look.
